The Truth About Feeling Lazy: You're Not Lazy, You're Just Tired
In a world that values productivity and achievement above all else, it can be easy to feel like we're just not doing enough. We might look at others who seem to be able to accomplish so much more and wonder what's wrong with us. Why can't we seem to get things done? Why do we always feel so tired?
But the truth is, we're not lazy. We're just tired. We've been living in survivor mode for so long that our minds are exhausted. We're still processing trauma, whether it's from a recent event or something that happened years ago. And that takes a toll on our mental and physical energy.
Survivor mode is a state of being where we are constantly on high alert, anticipating danger and reacting quickly to any perceived threat. It's a natural response to trauma, and it can be incredibly draining. We may not even realize we're in survivor mode until we start to feel overwhelmed and exhausted.
But it's important to remember that we're not weak or lazy for feeling this way. We're simply human, and our bodies and minds can only handle so much. It's okay to take a break, to rest, to be kind to ourselves.
We live in a culture that often glorifies overworking and burnout, but the reality is that pushing ourselves to the point of exhaustion is not sustainable. It's not healthy. And it's not necessary.
So if you're feeling tired, if you're struggling to get things done, if you're processing trauma, be kind to yourself. Give yourself permission to rest. Recognize that you're not lazy, you're just tired. And that's okay.
There are things we can do to help ourselves during these times. We can prioritize self-care, whether that means taking a bath, going for a walk, or simply taking a nap. We can practice mindfulness and meditation to help calm our minds and reduce stress. We can reach out for help if we need it, whether that's from a friend, a therapist, or a support group.
And most importantly, we can be gentle with ourselves. We can remind ourselves that we're doing the best we can, and that's enough. We don't have to be perfect. We don't have to do everything. We just have to take care of ourselves as best we can, one day at a time.
So if you're feeling tired and overwhelmed, remember: you're not lazy, you're just tired. You've been living in survivor mode for so long, and that's taken a toll on your mind and body. Be kind to yourself. Take a break. Rest. And know that you're not alone. There are others facing the same issue, just that this is your own personal battle and this is your personal comeback. Make it
